Why Men Are So Bad

A long time ago in a certain place, a man and a dog both died. One of the eight immortals happened to be passing by, and he decided to bring them back to life. He first examined the man and found that his heart had vanished; but the dog’s heart was still in its place. So he took out the dog’s heart and gave it to the man. He then made a heart out of earth for the dog. Then he said a few spells, and they both came to life again.

The dog raised its head and wagged its tail in gratitude. The man, however, not only did not thank his benefactor but cursed him.
